The former Man United midfielder recently took over as manager of the club following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, but it remains to be seen whether he will remain at Old Trafford beyond this term and until the end of the season.

Carrick does not have much experience at the highest level of management, but he previously impressed as manager of Middlesbrough and did enough to lift United’s side after a disastrous run under Amorim.

Mr Ratcliffe is clearly happy with Mr Carrick’s work but would not want to say whether he would give the 44-year-old the job permanently…

“He’s definitely doing a great job,” Ratcliffe said, but when asked about a permanent job, he added, “I’m not going there!”

Carrick has had a huge influence on United over the years, fine-tuning the team’s tactics and significantly improving both results and performances.

Prior to Carrick’s appointment, United had won just one game in seven games, but MUFC have now won six, drawn one and lost one in eight games in charge…

Manchester City (H)2-0 win
Arsenal (A)3-2 victory
Fulham (H)3-2 victory

Carrick is not as famous as other managers, with experienced players such as Roberto De Zerbi currently available, and others such as Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola likely to find new clubs soon.

Mr Ratcliffe seems happy with Mr Carrick, but it remains to be seen whether this will lead to him being given the permanent job or if he only sees him taking on the role on an interim basis before eventually handing it over to someone else.
