The Red Devils have likely identified Gueye as a priority target, deciding he ticks all the boxes for what they’re looking for in the middle of the park.

This is according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, which claims that Man United are now willing to make a big offer for Gueye, paying the 45 million euros needed to lure him away from Villarreal.

The Senegalese international could be a good fit for United to replace Casemiro, who is nearing the end of his contract, and would be able to fill the position for far less than the club’s other targets.

Will Pape Gueye return to the Premier League?

Gueye has shone in La Liga and was a Watford player at one point, but he has never played in the Premier League.

Bizarrely, going back to 2020, Gueye agreed to join Watford on a free transfer but never actually kicked a ball for the club.

The Daily Mirror reported at the time that Gueye was sold to Marseille just 17 hours after becoming a Watford player, but he quickly changed his mind about a move to Vicarage Road, claiming he had received bad advice.

Pape Gueye’s move to Manchester United could accelerate

Fichajes has now suggested that MUFC are very keen on Gueye and that signing the 27-year-old could accelerate in the coming weeks.

After his strange story at Watford a few years ago, it will be interesting to see if he can find further success in England this time.

To be fair, Gueye put that narrative behind him and focused the conversation on his own football while enjoying success in Spanish football.
