Crystal Palace have been named as shock candidates to sign Tottenham’s big star who is set to leave this summer.

Palace confirm new players and manager as they prepare for important summer

Summer is here at the Palace, and Selhurst Park is undergoing its biggest change in years.

With Oliver Glasner leaving at the end of the season and Adam Wharton expected to follow him on a fee that could reach nine figures, the club that won the FA Cup and Community Shield just 12 months ago now needs to rebuild around a new manager and a new identity.

The search for management has already become complicated.

Andoni Iraola was Palace’s first choice, but the Bournemouth head coach has confirmed he will leave the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season and is likely to head elsewhere, Sky Sports reports.

Manager Steve Parish has reportedly approached Thomas Frank, who was sacked by Tottenham in February following the tragic incident in north London.

Frank’s achievements during his seven years at Brentford – developing players like Ivan Toney, Brian Mbeumo and David Raya while routinely competing beyond the club’s means – are rumored to be the main reason for Parish’s interest.

Apart from searching for a new manager, Palace are also looking to recruit new players in the summer.

Palace are planning to sign a ‘fantastic’ player.

An unexpected name will also enter the conversation and will raise quite a few eyebrows.

Crystal Palace eyeing surprise move for Tottenham star Cristian Romero

Sports Boom reports that Palace have made a provisional check for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, who is set to leave the club this summer.

Romero, 27, has a clause in his current contract with Spurs (until 2029) that allows him to leave in the event of relegation.

With Tottenham sitting in the bottom three, without a win in the Premier League in 2026, and without a captain for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against Sunderland, this clause could very well be triggered.

The World Cup-winning Argentine is clearly not interested in dropping into the Championship and is thought to be “ready to quit” this summer.

However, given his links with the likes of Real Madrid, reports that Palace are interested in Romero are surprising to say the least.

Parish could definitely be the man for the job here, and with competition from all over Europe and high transfer fees, the race for the top spot will be intense for the defender.

For Palace, a talented centre-back like Romero would be just the statement they needed to sign for a club in transition.

Securing a new manager, maintaining a sufficient squad and recruiting players to meet demand will be the challenges facing Parish this summer.
