Leeds United are currently considering a big-money move to sign Andre from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Andre set to leave Wolves this summer
With the Reds getting closer to staying, it’s no wonder Leeds are starting to turn their attention to the summer transfer window. For the first time under manager Daniel Farke, Los Blancos have the chance to build on their success in the Premier League and, according to reports, that means spending big.
The top priority in that regard may be to find a replacement for Aoi Tanaka. Much has been made recently about the midfielder’s future, with reports suggesting he could be close to a return to Germany.
Questions have been raised over Tanaka’s future as a result of his playing time for Leeds this season. He is one of the few players to suffer in the club’s transfer business, with players like Anton Stacz rising above him.
There have been signs in recent weeks that that is changing, but it may be too late at Elland Road. Leeds will be tasked with replacing the 27-year-old.
This is where the transfer market comes into play. According to reports in Brazil, reported by Sport Witness, Leeds are considering a £35m move to sign Andre from Wolves this summer.
Despite being relegated, the Midlands club are set to command a hefty fee for the Brazilian, with the 49ers group currently interested in signing him, in what could become Leeds’ second-biggest deal in history.
Andre would be an instant upgrade over Tanaka for £35m
£35m may seem like a lot, but it is the price Leeds will have to pay to find an upgrade in Tanaka. Andre has been one of the few standouts in the Wolves’ struggles this season.
The South American has settled into life in the Premier League, forming a partnership with João Gomez, who is not at the bottom of the table.
PL 25/26 P90 | Andre | Tanaka |
|---|---|---|
minutes | 2,406 | 1,015 |
tackle | 2.81 | 1.77 |
collect | 6.81 | 5.23 |
Pass completed | 91% | 85.6% |
Successful duel | 52.6% | 43.7% |
Described as “powerful” by Como scout Ben Mattinson, Andre has thrived where Tanaka has struggled this season. The 24-year-old, dispossessed, was just everywhere.
The £35m price tag could quickly become a bargain if Leeds can secure a move and enjoy a top-tier midfielder over the next few years. However, with competition from Juventus, the Elland Road side will need to act quickly if they want to secure his signature.
