Liverpool are reportedly considering a midfielder this summer, with £80m-rated Brighton star Carlos Baleva among the names being considered.
The 22-year-old has shown he is one of the best talents in the Premier League, leading Liverpool to take notice of him, even if the asking price is an issue.

This is according to TEAMtalk, who also mentioned other names such as Adam Wharton as being on the Reds’ radar in the upcoming transfer window.
Baleva was so impressive for Brighton last season that he attracted interest from Manchester United in the summer and remains linked with the Cameroon international ahead of this season.
Still, there are some who think Baleva’s form has gone downhill a bit this term, and it will be interesting to see if he can still make big moves, or if Brighton need to lower their demands on him a bit.
Manchester United are being asked to sign Carlos Baleva
Baleva was previously linked with Man United, with the deal given the approval of club legend Rio Ferdinand.
The pundit was clearly excited about the link with Baleva a year ago and explained why he felt he would be the perfect addition to MUFC’s midfield.
“If it were me, I would spend a lot of money on Baleva. He has talent.” Energy, leg strength, tactical awareness, everything you need to dominate the midfield,” Ferdinand was quoted as saying by The Sun.
“Baleba is exactly the player United need – box-to-box.” dynamo Someone who can do it all.
“He has Premier League experience and frees up the other midfielders to focus on attack. He will have a huge impact on this team.”
Will Liverpool do well this summer?
LFC spent a lot of money last summer and flopped with a series of failures including Alexander Isaac, Florian Wertz and Jeremy Frimpong.
The Merseyside giants cannot afford to make any more mistakes like that, so spending big on an expensive player like Baleva may seem a bit unwise.
Baleva may still have the potential to have a great career, but right now he definitely looks like a one-season wonder, and there are probably better options out there that don’t cost as much.
