Arsenal are interested in signing Julián Alvarez from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, but they will face competition from PSG and Barcelona.

TEAMtalk reports that PSG manager Luis Enrique has urged club executives to sign the 26-year-old striker in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can move quickly to win the race for him.

Atletico Madrid are expected to ask for around £100m to sell the player. The 26-year-old World Cup winner is an anomaly for the Spanish club and there is no doubt he can transform Arsenal in attack. Alvarez has 20 goals and nine assists this season.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners have the financial wherewithal to make a deal and can persuade the player to join the club. They are well placed to win the Premier League title this season and have also reached the UEFA Champions League final. They defeated PSG in the European final and will be looking to sign Alvarez.

If they can sign the 2022 World Cup winner, their offense could change completely. They need a reliable striker who can consistently find the back of the goal and create chances in the final third. They invested heavily in Victor Gokeres in the summer transfer window and he has scored 20 goals in all competitions. However, his scoring ability is inconsistent and his overall soccer ability leaves much to be desired.

Alvarez is a more complete forward who could not only find the back of the goal but also help create chances for his teammates. He is also deadly from set-pieces and could add a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack.
