Newton Square, Pennsylvania is home to approximately 15,000 local residents. However, the PGA Championship will be held this weekend, so the city will be busier than usual.

It’s been 64 years since Aronimink Golf Club hosted the PGA Championship, and this year it’s back with an all-star lineup.

The two favorites are Scottie Scheffler, the event’s defending champion, and Rory McIlroy, who recently won his second green jacket in as many years. They will join a crowd of other golfers and fans in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The last time the Aronomink Course hosted the PGA Championship was in 1962, before the moon landing and when Ray Charles topped the rankings. The winner of this tournament was Gary Player, who was 26 years old at the time and is now 90 years old.

However, the course has returned for more events, hosting the Women’s PGA Championship in 2020 and the BMW Championship in 2018.

Upcoming PGA Championship Site

In 2027, the PGA Championship will be held at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. The course hosted the Senior PGA Championship in 2023, but 2027 will be the first time a major event of this level will be held.
