David Moyes’ former employee has advised Everton to sign the ‘perfect’ Man United player for the Toffees.

Everton continue to hold on in European race after draw with Crystal Palace

The dream of European football next season is alive, but it is looking increasingly unlikely.

Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace – a game in which the Toffees were in the lead but were unable to continue winning – left Moyes’ side in 10th place, four points behind Brighton, with two games in hand.

The mathematical problem has not yet been formally resolved and the gap can still be overcome, but Everton will rely heavily on their senior fumbles and near-perfect record going forward.

The end of their debut season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be a fairytale ending for a club who have spent much of the season harboring genuine ambitions to finish in the top seven.

The star is set to become an Everton player next season, with transfer talks planned.

He’s one of their most likely trades.

Beto found the back of the net at Selhurst Park and made a solid difference, but it was another afternoon that highlighted the inconsistency that ultimately cost Everton.

Moyes will be looking for answers this summer, and strengthening his forward line appears to be near the top of his list.

Everton hint at signing Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee, who is regularly linked with the Merseysiders, has endured one of the most disastrous seasons in the Premier League this season.

The £36m signing showed no further confidence, making just five starts under Ruben Amorim before Michael Carrick’s arrival, and the Dutch international was on the back foot with just two goals in the league this season.

Since then, United have made moves to sign him and have made it clear they are open to leaving in the summer, with interested clubs lining up.

With summer fast approaching, Everton could make a return for Zirksee, and the former United scout says that is a strong possibility.

Mick Brown, who worked closely with Moyes during his time at West Ham, told Football Insider it could be a game to watch.

“A move to Everton is a real possibility for Zirkzee,” he said.

“Whatever you say about his time at Man United, he certainly put in shifts and worked hard and you can never fault him for not doing his best to make an impact.

“It might not be enough for Man United, who are competing with the likes of Benjamin Sesco and Brian Mbeumo, but that’s not the case at Everton.

“He is a perfect fit for David Moyes as he works hard, is able to hold onto the ball and bring his teammates into play and is not afraid to move in behind the defence.

“This is a move that could work for everyone because it means he gets more playing time, Everton gets a new striker and Man United gets some money.”

It is difficult to argue with Mr. Brown’s reasoning.

Zirkzee’s profile fits well with what Moyes tends to look for in a No. 9: hard-working, movement-intelligent and capable both as a focal point and as a link player.

The manager built West Ham’s best team around forwards who cared as much about the team as themselves, and whatever his limitations at Old Trafford, Zirksee was never accused of bad attitude or lack of effort.

Whether United’s asking price turns out to be manageable is another matter entirely.
