Report: Arsenal prepare for historic transfer fee of 90 million euros after initial negotiations

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a €90 million transfer fee for Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder Arda Güler following initial negotiations between intermediaries.

Güler is highly admired by Arsenal and we previously reported here that the Gunners were pursuing the Turkish international ahead of this summer.

This seems to be the latest news, as Spanish media outlet Fichajes claims that Arsenal are preparing to make a “historic investment” of around 90 million euros to sign Guler.

However, the paper added that Guler himself has hinted that he is not interested in a move, although it is flattering, and that Real Madrid are also not interested in a sale.

Will Arsenal be able to prevent a surprise move for Arda Guler?

However, Arsenal may still have a chance, as Fichajes’ report also suggests that a managerial change at the Bernabéu this summer could cause uncertainty.

Jose Mourinho is tipped to be his successor, but it is safe to say that Guler does not appear to be an obvious fit with the Portuguese tactician’s preferred style of football.

Arsenal could also be an attractive project for a player like Guler. The 21-year-old looks like the ideal candidate to replace the increasingly injured Martin Odegaard, and perhaps as a long-term replacement.

Arsenal are battling to win the Premier League and Champions League double this season and need three more wins from what is arguably their best season ever.

That could help lure players like Guler to the Emirates Stadium, especially since things haven’t gone so smoothly for Madrid this season with a trophyless season and a lot of bad blood in the dressing room.
