European champions PSG came forward to sign the “underrated” Newcastle star as manager Eddie Howe set a £75m price tag.

Newcastle face an exodus of key players this summer

It’s shaping up to be a turbulent summer on Tyneside.

Newcastle’s disappointing season has left the club facing difficult questions, and the answer may include losing some of their best players before starting a rebuild.

Anthony Gordon’s situation has dominated the headlines, and rightfully so, but he is not the only first-team regular whose future at St James’ Park is uncertain.

Sandro Tonali’s agent has been quietly preparing for his departure for several months, with Arsenal, Man United, Juventus and Real Madrid all linked with the Italian.

The 25-year-old’s camp are rumored to believe they have a gentleman’s agreement in place with the club. If Newcastle fail to qualify for European football, they will not play but offers will be considered.

Newcastle are reportedly asking for a transfer fee in the region of £100m, but the level of interest suggests a deal could happen as soon as a slot opens up.

The Magpies have wanted him for quite some time.

Tino Libramento is also a big concern.

The 23-year-old right-back has been sidelined with a thigh injury since March and is not expected to feature again this season, with his sights set on the World Cup.

More importantly, contract extension negotiations have stalled, with only two years remaining on his current contract.

Arsenal are long-time fans, Liverpool have recently joined the club, and Tottenham are thought to be interested if they survive relegation.

Newcastle know that if Libramento does not agree to a new contract soon, they may be forced to sell rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee in the future.

There has also been talk of a transfer for Lewis Hall, and rather than strengthening the team, the situation is increasingly on the verge of dissolution.

PSG holds Anthony Gordon talks amid Bayern Munich deal

The latest developments centered around Gordon are taking place against this backdrop.

According to TEAMtalk’s Graham Bailey and other reliable media sources, the 25-year-old’s camp have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich and the England international is open to testing himself in the Bundesliga.

Gordon has scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League this season, not to mention scoring 17 goals in all competitions, and remains one of Newcastle’s most important attacking players.

But Bayern is not alone.

TEAMtalk also reports that PSG are in talks over a possible move for Gordon, adding another potential player to a race that already includes Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

The French champions are exploring their options after a transition season and see Gordon as someone who fits into their recruitment plans.

Newcastle’s position is clear: they cannot sell for less than £75m.

There is no release clause in Gordon’s contract until 2030, and the club is under no obligation to sell him. Bayern’s current valuation is believed to be closer to £50m-60m, well below the amount needed to begin serious negotiations.

The ‘underrated’ winger’s next move is most likely to be Bayern at this stage, but the race could still be open.
