Alex Meret has been linked with a move from Napoli at the end of this season.
According to a report from Area Napoli, the player is looking for a fresh start this summer and his agent has already made offers to other clubs. The paper goes on to claim that Tottenham Hotspur need a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario and the idea of signing the Napoli goalkeeper would be interesting to Tottenham Hotspur.
It remains to be seen whether they will make a move to sign him. The opportunity to move to a London club could be an exciting one for Meret.
The 29-year-old is under contract with Napoli until 2027, so he could be available for a reasonable fee. Tottenham need more depth in their goalkeeping department and signing the Napoli star for a reasonable fee would be a wise move.
It will also help improve other areas of the team. Multiple goalkeeper rumors have surfaced in recent months, most of which would come at a hefty price tag.
Meret has the qualifications and experience to excel in English football, but it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to secure this deal. The player is also linked with AS Monaco. It remains to be seen whether he is ready to move to France.
Vicario has been very lackluster since joining Tottenham and has been linked with a return to Italy. It remains to be seen whether top clubs are prepared to offer him an exit route.
Meret is at the peak of his career and will aim to make an immediate impact in the Premier League if he joins Tottenham. Coach Antonio Conte has praised him as a goalkeeper with “great potential.”
