Carlos Alcaraz will miss this year’s Wimbledon due to a lingering wrist injury, he announced on Tuesday.
The world No. 2 male player has already withdrawn from the 2026 French Open later this month due to injury.

Alcaraz injured his right wrist while playing at the Barcelona Open in April. After the injury, he withdrew from the Madrid Open, Italian Open, and French Open.
The tennis star is aware of where she is in her career and knows there is no need to rush back onto the court if it means risking further injury. “I have a very long career and it will continue for many years to come. To overdo it at this Roland Garros could be very damaging to future tournaments,” he said before announcing his withdrawal from the Madrid Open.

This will be the first time Alcaraz will miss Wimbledon since turning professional in 2020. Although it was not held that year due to the coronavirus, it advanced to the second round in the first year of the competition in 2021.

Alcaraz then reached the fourth round in 2022 and won her first Wimbledon title in 2023. He won his second Wimbledon title in 2024 and came very close to a three-peat in 2025. Alcaraz reached the final, but lost in four sets to Jannik Sinner.
The 23-year-old’s 2026 tennis season is off to a strong start. He won the 2026 Australian Open by defeating Novak Djokovic in four sets, but this is only the second time in his career that he has missed two major tennis tournaments in the same year, and the first since 2020.
As Alcaraz’s recovery progresses, all eyes are on whether he will be able to compete in the 2026 US Open, which begins in late August.
