Paul O’Keeffe shares exciting update on Savigno
The North London club’s active interest was revealed by prominent Tottenham insider Paul O’Keeffe.
O’Keeffe responded to supporters on X about the club’s ongoing summer transfer strategy, admitting that negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City are currently active and progressing behind the scenes.
When asked by a fan if Sabinho was an explicitly wanted target of the new manager, O’Keeffe firmly replied: “Yes,” and confirmed that De Zerbi had given the green light to the deal.
And when asked whether West Ham’s Crisencio Somerville or the Brazil international was more likely to be signed, the source provided an exciting update for the Spurs faithful, saying: “All focus is on Savinho at the moment.”
Savinho would be a great signing under De Zerbi.
Redirecting Sabinho’s recruitment efforts is an important statement of intent for Spurs.
The 22-year-old forward arrived at the Etihad with great pedigree following his impressive spell at Girona, but has fallen down the pecking order after City signed Antoine Semenho.
Despite a frustrating initial adjustment period in the Premier League, Savinho’s raw profile makes him an incredibly attractive player for De Zerbi’s energetic, possession-based system.
Renowned for his incredible speed, flair and excellent one-on-one dribbling ability, the Brazilian thrives when isolated against full-backs, a tactical staple of De Zerbi’s previous successes at Brighton and Marseille.
City are thought to have paid a premium to part ways with the young winger, but Tottenham look set to row the boat after manager de Zerbi gave the board his glowing blessings.
