Aston Villa wants to sign a quality goalkeeper on behalf of Emiliano Martinez, and has identified Lucas Chevalier as the target.

The Argentine goalkeeper has told Aston Villa he wants to leave the club this summer, and the West Midlands outfit is now looking at an alternative.

According to Sky Sports, they identified Losc Lille goalkeeper as their priority target. Sports Director Monki is currently in discussion with the player’s agent. It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa has an official offer to sign players.

The first discussion took place between representatives of the English club and the player regarding his wages. However, Aston Villa has not yet submitted a written proposal.

Meanwhile, Chevalier is interested in taking on new challenges and is pleased to join the Premier League club. The 23-year-old goalkeeper is considered one of the best in his position and has held 11 clean sheets in the league this season.

He is expected to compete with Mike Maignan at the start of the French national team soon. There is no doubt that he will be a solid long-term acquisition for Aston Villa. Chevalier is also linked to Manchester United.

The players are also in touch with Barcelona. They want to bring in quality goalkeepers this summer. It remains to be seen whether that will move forward with the offer to sign the 23-year-old. The French could be tempted to join a Spanish club if they had specific suggestions at the table. That would be a great opportunity for him.

Aston Villa should move quickly and ask him to secure his signature. They secure European football the following season and have a talented team. Chevalier may be able to fulfill his ambitions with them in the future.
