  • Links with Real Madrid create transfer noise
  • Tottenham should keep hold of the talented Spanish player

Tottenham have made it clear in the summer transfer window that Pedro Polo is not a player they want to lose.

Spurs have no intention of selling the Spanish right-back this summer, despite his links with Real Madrid and Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The message from inside the club appears to be simple: Roberto de Zerbi sees Polo as a key part of his plans, and Tottenham’s management also sees Polo as a key figure in their rebuild.

This is a powerful statement, especially given the huge changes already taking place in north London.

De Zerbi has begun rebuilding his squad, with Tottenham adding defensive experience through recent signings such as Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

Links with Real Madrid create transfer noise

Polo has been linked with Real Madrid for some time, so the interest is understandable.

He is aggressive, technically sharp and provides a great attacking threat from right-back.

TEAMtalk reports that Madrid are eyeing him as part of their search for long-term options in the position.

His relationship with Manchester City is also interesting. That’s because Polo made his name with Sporting CP and was previously on their roster before later joining Tottenham.

His move to Spurs was first completed on loan from Sporting, before becoming a permanent move, the Guardian reported.

Tottenham should keep hold of the talented Spanish player

From Tottenham’s perspective, selling Polo now would make little sense.

De Zerbi needs a player who follows his style and Polo’s energy, crossing and ability to play high up the pitch are a perfect match.

Retaining their strongest parts should be a priority as Spurs look to build more consistency after a difficult league run.

Unless an outrageous offer arrives, it seems right for Tottenham to keep the transfer door firmly shut.
