Real Madrid have reportedly shifted their focus to Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol after Arsenal do not want to sell Riccardo Calafioli.
The Spanish giants are also considering Chelsea defender Levi Colwill as another replacement as they continue their search for defenders.
This, according to TEAMtalk, may be more realistic as Calafioli will not be available, but Gvardiol only has two years left on his contract.

Colwill is also highly rated but is not yet considered a priority for Los Blancos, so Gvardiol’s story is likely to be in the spotlight.
Josko Gvardiol’s Manchester City future is in doubt
Gvardiol has become a key player for Man City, but a new contract has yet to be agreed, so it’s understandable that Real are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Sources have also revealed that Real are interested in two other City players, Ruben Dias and Matheus Nunez.
If Madrid want a player with a similar profile to Calafioli, a young and versatile player who can work well at centre-back or left-back, signing Gvardiol might make more sense.
Dias could be a good option for incoming manager Jose Mourinho, but this is certainly far from ideal after the turmoil City have already experienced this summer with the departure of manager Josep Guardiola.
Riccardo Calafioli news is a boost for Arsenal
Most Arsenal fans will no doubt be happy to hear that Calafioli is likely to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
The Italian international was a key player for the Gunners as they won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final in the memorable 2025/26 season.

But certainly Calafioli has a bit of a bad injury record, so perhaps a suitable offer could have given Arsenal something to think about.
Still, Arsenal won’t have to think too much about making major changes to their backline this summer, as the latest information suggests Real are looking elsewhere.
