  • A real concern for Manchester United
  • West Ham United retain power, interest grows

Manchester United’s midfield plans could face new complications, with Paris Saint-Germain currently in contact over one of their transfer targets.

According to journalist Santi Auna, PSG have held talks with West Ham to understand the terms of the departures of Crisencio Somerville and Matheus Fernandes.

The French champions have also held discussions with the entourages of both players, suggesting this is more than just an interest.

West Ham’s stance is clear. The Hammers are reportedly asking around €50 million for Somerville and €80 million for Fernandes.

These numbers are high, but not surprising considering the level of competition for both players.

A real concern for Manchester United

The Fernandes situation is a bigger blow for Manchester United.

They have been linked with the Portuguese midfielder for several weeks, and GOAL previously reported that the Red Devils are increasing their interest.

United need fresh legs and technical quality in midfield and Fernandes looks like the type of modern player they were looking for.

He is young, strong in pressing and comfortable moving the ball forward, qualities that have been sorely lacking at United in recent seasons.

However, once PSG entered the race, the atmosphere changed completely. The French club could offer Champions League football, a strong Portuguese-speaking group and an increasingly attractive project for young midfielders.

As previously reported by Get French Football News, PSG are already keeping a close eye on Fernandes.

West Ham United retain power, interest grows

This is a strong position for West Ham. Somerville brings speed and creativity across the board, while Fernandes has become one of their most valuable assets.

Transfermarkt currently pegs Fernandes as a West Ham player with a market value of €50 million, but the Hammers clearly believe that serious competition could push the price even higher.

From United’s point of view, this is exactly the kind of transfer race they should avoid.

With Real Madrid, PSG and other Premier League clubs all in orbit, prices could rise quickly.

If United are serious, they may need to act quickly. Otherwise, PSG could miss out on another chance.
