Rodri has a new transfer target – and it’s not Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is reportedly a target of Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

Previously linked with Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, Ficages says PSG are now seen as Rodri’s most likely next move.

Man City are probably not too keen on selling Rodri, but it is worth noting that the Spain international only has one year left on his contract.

At 29 years old, it might be a good time to let Rodri go, although he’s definitely past his peak now, especially since he’s had some injury issues over the past two seasons.

What does the future hold for Rodri?

A lot has been reported about Rodri recently and perhaps his future will become clearer after the World Cup, as the Fijages report suggests.

Still, with Pep Guardiola stepping down as City manager, there is no doubt that a big name like Rodri could consider a move elsewhere.

Ficajes has hinted that the 29-year-old is keen on the PSG project, which comes as no surprise given their success in winning the last two Champions League finals.

However, there are other reports that Rodri could stay at the Etihad Stadium and sign a new contract…

Reliable journalist Matteo Moretto reported last month that City were prepared to accelerate contract talks with Rodri, while Rodri downplayed his relationship with Real Madrid.

Perhaps things could change as PSG have also entered the equation and it may be difficult to turn down a move to the Parc des Princes now.

However, it is worth noting that it is unclear whether Rodri is needed as much as Luis Enrique already has a wealth of quality options in midfield such as Joao Neves, Vicinha, Warren Zaire-Emery and Fabian Ruiz.

The former Atlético player will want to play regularly wherever he goes next, but that doesn’t seem to be guaranteed given the high competition in this PSG team.
