Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte has reportedly been offered to AC Milan, but there are currently no active negotiations between the clubs.
According to journalist Nicolo Sylla, the Uruguayan international has been offered to the Italian side and his links with Ruben Amorim make the situation even more interesting.
Amorim knows Ugarte well from their time together at Sporting CP, and that relationship could give Milan further insight if they decide to explore the deal further.
This movement is still in the proposal stage, so it would be wrong to describe it as progressing.
But it feels like a game to keep an eye on, especially with United expected to rebuild their midfield this summer.
Sky Sports recently reported that Ugarte is one of the players expected to leave Old Trafford.
Amorim connections could help AC Milan
Ugarte will join Man United from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, with the Premier League confirming he has penned a five-year contract with the option of another year.
The move was intended to give United more possession in the midfield for longer periods, but things haven’t gone completely to plan.
That’s why Milan can be such an interesting destination. According to the Guardian, Amorim has agreed to become AC Milan’s head coach and had previously trusted Ugarte at Sporting.
The idea makes sense if Milan want a combative and disciplined midfielder who already understands Amorim’s demands.
Manchester United are considering selling Ugarte
The biggest problem is money. United paid a huge fee for Ugarte and may be unwilling to accept a big loss unless they urgently need to make space.
For Milan, this would only make sense with the right price or a creative structure, perhaps an option or an obligation loan.
There are no negotiations yet, just opportunities on the table.
Still, with United open to changes in midfield and Milan entering a new Amorim era, the offer could develop if both sides see value.
