Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from SportsBoom, Newcastle will demand around £100m for the Italy international. This asking price could pose a major problem for clubs hoping to sign the player.

The 26-year-old has an outstanding record in the Premier League and could be an ideal signing for the Premier League. They need players who can protect the defense and win the ball back in the middle of the park. The Italian is calm and collected with the ball at his feet.

According to the paper, Arsenal are also interested in the Newcastle star, who would prefer to join Arsenal over Tottenham.

Tonali has great respect for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi and they are said to have already discussed the possibility of working together. However, the Newcastle star is still leaning towards a move to Arsenal. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal make him an offer. They could use more defensive cover in midfield and the Italian could be an outstanding addition.

No wonder he is interested in joining the Gunners. Last season they won the Premier League title and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League. Tonali is at the peak of his career and will be competing at the highest level and fighting for big trophies. Arsenal are certainly well placed to offer him that platform.

Tottenham have finished 17th in the league in the past two seasons. If they want to sign a top-level player like Tonali this summer, they will need to do a lot of convincing.
