After winning Group G, Egypt has emerged as one of the hot topics for the early stages of the 2026 World Cup.

The Pharaohs returned to the World Cup this summer, although they missed out on qualifying for the 2022 tournament.

Egypt, selected alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Iran, entered the competition knowing that qualifying for the finals was a realistic goal.

Their campaign began with a hard-fought draw against Belgium.

This result immediately puts Egypt in a competitive position for the second group match.

After that, all eyes were on talks with New Zealand in Vancouver.

This match was a milestone for Egyptian football.

Egypt, who were at a disadvantage, fought back brilliantly and won 3-1.

Mohamed Salah was once again at the center of the incident as Egypt came from behind to claim all three points, resulting in Egypt moving to the top of Group G and remaining in a good position heading into the final group stage game against Iran.

West Londoners have remained quiet so far this summer.

This victory also had additional meaning.

Egypt’s success against New Zealand was a historic achievement for the national team, as Egypt had never won a World Cup final tournament before.

Salah’s influence throughout the tournament continues to attract attention.

The former Liverpool forward added his World Cup goal to his international record in the win over New Zealand, becoming the oldest African to score and assist in a World Cup match.

Several members of the Egyptian national team also performed well in the opening two games.

The team’s offensive threat and resiliency are helping it contend for a spot in the knockout stages. However, preparations for a decisive conflict with Iran are not going completely smoothly.

Egypt rejects US authorities’ green light to fly to Seattle

In fact, Egypt faced unexpected travel problems immediately after defeating New Zealand.

The team was scheduled to travel directly from Vancouver to Seattle, with the Egyptian team scheduled to play their final group game in Seattle against Iran, and had hoped to remain in place to minimize the travel burden on the players.

Instead, those plans were thwarted.

Local security officials denied a request by New Zealand’s post-war Egyptian delegation to stay in Seattle.

As a result, the team was forced to return to its training base in Spokane, about 300 miles away, rather than heading directly to Seattle.

The Egyptian Football Association subsequently issued an official statement explaining the situation.

“Security officials denied the team’s request to remain in Seattle as scheduled after the World Cup game against New Zealand, so the team delegation will return to Spokane.”

National team coach Hossam Hassan confirmed that the team’s plans had changed following the decision by security authorities.

The change means Egypt will have to travel again before facing Iran in one of the most important games of the tournament.

Disruptions occur at critical moments.

A win against Iran would guarantee Egypt a place in the knockout stages, and a draw could be enough.

As a result, travel issues have become a hot topic within the team.

Egyptian officials reportedly hoped that staying close to the venue would help the players recover more effectively after New Zealand’s victory.

Instead, the team had to adjust its preparations on short notice.

This strange situation has attracted the attention of international media, given Egypt’s excellent start to the tournament and the importance of the upcoming clash with Iran.

Despite the setback, Egypt remains focused on qualifying.

But this is yet another stain on Donald Trump’s administration’s bid to host the tournament, given that Iran was also denied the right to practice in the United States.
