Will Brown, aged 26, is the reigning champion of the Australian Supercar Series, boasting 11 wins in his career and a third-place finish at the Bathurst 1000 last year. Beyond his achievements in supercar racing, Brown is also a two-time Bathurst class winner.

He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut last year, competing for Richard Childress Racing at Sonoma, where he finished 24th and 31st in his starts. This year, Brown returns to the Chicago Street Course, driving the third car as a teammate to AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon, behind the wheel of the No. 13 Chevrolet. MobileX continues as a primary sponsor, as they did during his initial stint with RCR.

Australian supercar drivers have been making waves in NASCAR ever since Shane Van Gisbergen (SVG) won his Cup debut on the Chicago Street Course in 2023 and then transitioned to a full-time NASCAR career. Brown took over for SVG in the Red Bull Unpole Race with Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Reflecting on his opportunities, Brown shared, “After seeing SVG win at Chicago in 2023 and driving myself at Sonoma last year, I was really eager to race at Grant Park 165. The supercar schedule allowed me to skip Charlotte early this year, preparing specifically for this race. We’ve also been closely following the Kaulig races this season.”

Kaulig Racing team owner Matt Kaulig expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “This is a fantastic chance for Kaulig Racing to compete for victory in one of the most prestigious events. We’re thrilled to have Brown with us and ready to go after the trophy.”

The race is set for July 6th, where Brown aims to make history as the first Australian-born driver to win, following his New Zealand counterpart SVG.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for NASCAR fans as it highlights the growing international influence in the sport, particularly from Australian supercar talent. Will Brown’s participation could pave the way for more global drivers to compete in NASCAR, increasing competition and expanding the sport’s appeal worldwide.
