Talented young Australian defender Lucas Herrington is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League giants Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The highly-rated 18-year-old, who currently plays for Colorado Rapids in MLS, is set to make a splash at the 2026 World Cup this summer.

And now there appears to be a long line of clubs looking to sign Herrington, including some of the Premier League’s biggest names.

According to TEAMtalk, Herrington has interest from Liverpool, Man United, Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also reports that Chelsea and Manchester City are holding some sort of talks, with Barcelona also apparently showing concrete interest.

Who is Lucas Herrington and where could he go this summer?

Herrington was born in Australia and represented Australia at this summer’s World Cup and has already won six senior caps for Australia.

The youngster had the option of representing Germany, Finland or Zimbabwe, but chose Australia and became the youngest ever starter at this summer’s World Cup.

The 6ft 4in central defender started his career with Brisbane Roar but shone in the US with Colorado Rapids.

However, with so many clubs keen to sign him this summer, it seems inevitable that he will move to Europe soon.

TEAMtalk’s report also suggests that Barça have the most concrete and advanced interest in the teenager at the moment, but it looks like Chelsea and other teams could be firmly on board as well.

Liverpool and Man United are big names with a proud history of developing young players and could also offer Herrington a competitive project or Champions League football.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have also put a lot of emphasis on signing top-class young players recently, with mixed success in that regard, so even if there is a clear path to the first team, it’s not always clear whether it’s the best move for him.
