European giants Inter Milan are considering a new bid for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Serie A champions have made the English midfielder a potential signing but have hit a financial hurdle in negotiations.

With the summer transfer window in full swing, the Italian side are hoping to test Liverpool’s resolve once again.

Ben Jacobs Inter Milan considering new bid for Curtis Jones

According to renowned journalist Ben Jacobs, Inter Milan are refusing to leave the negotiating table despite experiencing an immediate setback.

Inter are considering a new signing for Curtis Jones, despite the Merseyside club’s offer of €25m being immediately rejected.

Even with their current recruitment strategy, Liverpool’s stance is incredibly clear.

The Premier League side are well prepared to keep Jones if his €40m-plus valuation is not met by a foreign suitor.

Inter’s last verbal offer was rejected by Liverpool, who deemed a deal impossible, but the Serie A side are currently discussing a new offer behind the scenes.

They are still waiting for new formal negotiations to begin and hope that the player’s contract situation, which has entered the final 12 months of his contract, will force Liverpool to compromise on the final price.

Nottingham Forest are also heavily linked with a move for Curtis Jones

Inter Milan’s lack of intention to meet the asking price leaves the door open for competition.

Nottingham Forest have also been strongly linked with a move for Curtis Jones, with reports claiming Forest have opened talks with Liverpool and are prepared to make an offer in the range of £35m to £40m.

Forest are embarking on an ambitious midfield rebuild with a reinforcement plan to position themselves as a highly attractive replacement for the 25-year-old, who has scored 22 goals and provided 25 assists in all competitions for Liverpool.

Jones is open to leaving Anfield this summer in order to pursue guaranteed first-team football on a week-to-week basis after being frequently used as an option in the rotation squad.

If Inter Milan don’t put together an attractive third bid quickly, they risk losing their long-term ambitions to their Premier League rivals altogether.
