Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm Jr. Strikes Three Homers in Stellar Rehab Debut at Double-A Somerset

Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. played his first rehab game with the Somerset Patriots on Thursday night, showing strong performance both offensively and defensively. Chisholm took the hot corner for the Patriots as the Yankees aim to expand his versatility within the infield. He spent five innings playing across all three bases during the game.

Chisholm only began playing third base after being acquired by the Yankees at last season’s trade deadline. Starting the 2025 season at second base, the team hopes his range at third, along with players like DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Cabrera, will offer more lineup and defensive flexibility.

Manager Aaron Boone emphasized his desire for Chisholm to play third base. Chisholm expressed his team-first mindset, saying he’s focused on winning a championship rather than competing for a position.

At the plate, Chisholm went 3-for-3 with a walk. He singled to right field in his first at-bat and hit a double in his third, narrowly missing a home run to dead center. George Lombard Jr. later drove him in with a triple. The Yankees’ top prospects finished 5-for-1 (likely a typo, but presumably a notable hitting performance).

Another Yankees prospect, Spencer Jones, returned to the lineup after recovering from a recent injury. Jones also shined, going 3-for-3 with doubles and an RBI.

On the mound, JT Brubaker began his rehab stint with the Patriots, pitching four strong innings with 48 pitches, including 30 strikes. He allowed just one hit and three walks, lowering his ERA to 1.35.

Fan Take: Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s successful rehab game marks an exciting development for the Yankees, offering them greater flexibility and depth in their infield. Baseball fans should watch closely, as his versatility and hitting prowess could have a significant impact on the team’s championship aspirations this season.
