On Friday, October 9, the NASCAR community will come together for a public Celebration of Life event to honor Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and winner of 234 races across all three national NASCAR divisions, who tragically passed away at 41 on May 21. The ceremony, held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s start/finish line in Concord, North Carolina, will feature heartfelt tributes from Busch’s wife Samantha, his brother Kurt, and various notable drivers including Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Noah Gragson, Daniel Suárez, and Austin Dillon.
This free event will begin at 8pm EST immediately following the Truck Series race. Fans without race tickets can enter through Gates 4 and 5A after the race ends, while ticket holders have the option to remain seated or move closer to the start/finish line. The evening will also include a post-ceremony concert by country singer Cole Swindell, a drone show, video tributes, and exhibitions of Kyle Busch’s race cars and trophies. The ceremony will be broadcast on FOX SPORTS 1, timing dependent on the Truck race’s conclusion.
Guest speakers confirmed include Samantha Busch, who co-founded the Bundle of Joy Fund with Kyle; Kurt Busch, Kyle’s brother and 2004 Cup Series champion; Joe Gibbs, owner of Joe Gibbs Racing where Kyle earned two championships and many victories; and prominent NASCAR drivers and former teammates like Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Daniel Suárez, Noah Gragson, and Austin Dillon. Veteran NASCAR broadcaster Mike Joy will also participate in the event.
Samantha Busch personally invited the public in a video message, expressing her wish for the event to unite the NASCAR community in remembering Kyle’s remarkable life, celebrating his legacy, and sharing memories. She emphasized the event’s inclusivity and the rich lineup of tributes as a fitting homage to her husband’s profound impact on the sport they both cherished.
Fan Take: This tribute not only honors one of NASCAR’s most electrifying and successful drivers but also brings the entire NASCAR community together in a rare moment of unity and reflection. Celebrating Kyle Busch’s legacy is crucial for fans and the sport as it reinforces the deep connections and human stories behind the high-speed competition that NASCAR represents.
