Dani Olmo turned down Bayern Munich on two occasions prior to his move to Barcelona, according to his agent. He signed with Barça ahead of the 2024-25 season and has since netted 20 goals and provided 18 assists in 96 appearances for the club.
The Spanish international has secured two LaLiga titles, two Supercopas de España, and one Copa del Rey since leaving RB Leipzig, in addition to winning the World Cup with Spain this summer. So far this season, Olmo has been instrumental in scoring and creating opportunities, contributing to 38 goals and creating 116 chances, ranking him sixth and fourth, respectively, among Barcelona players.
Bayern Munich had attempted to acquire Olmo twice—first before his Barça stint and again while he was at Dinamo Zagreb. His agent, Marc Bara, expressed that Olmo’s decision to reject Bayern made sense in the long run. “When he was at Dinamo, I suggested he should wait for a better opportunity, and it ultimately paid off,” Bara shared on the Inkubator podcast. He added that a later offer from Bayern came while Olmo was at Leipzig, but they decided on Barcelona, which turned out to be a favorable move given Olmo’s success thereafter.
“He has won the European Championship, Nations League, World Cup, and is now considered one of the top ten players on the national team. His journey feels cinematic, and I’m proud to have been a part of it,” Bara remarked.
Barcelona aims to maintain their unbeaten start as they prepare to face Getafe after the international break, along with challenges against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid later this month.
