Newcastle United has been receiving an impressive campaign, securing qualifying for the Champions League next season.

However, they will need to adhere to strict UEFA requirements ahead of the next season, and will need to increase the number of homemade players in their team.

UEFA Standards to worry about Newcastle

According to UEFA regulations, Newcastle must register a minimum of four players with the club for a minimum of three years between the ages of 15 and 21.

Currently, Sean Longstaff is the only player on a team that meets the criteria. Therefore, Newcastle will need to bring in homemade players during the summer transfer period. According to reports from Athletic, they were able to consider resigning as former academy alumni to meet UEFA standards.

Reports suggest that players like Freddie Woodman, Tim Krull and Fraser Forster may be on the radar. It remains to be seen whether they decided to make a move for one of the three goalkeepers in the summer.

Woodman has done well with Preston and he could be a useful player for them. Similarly, Krul was due to be released by Luton Town, allowing him to fantasize about the opportunity to return to his previous club in the Premier League.

As for Fourstar, he was released by Tottenham Hotspur, but it remains to be seen whether Magpies have decided to move out for him. Something like Krul and Forster have a lot of Premier League experience and could prove to be useful acquisitions.

Signing a free transfer of either is a risk-free acquisition and not a significant amount of money. It is still unknown if the club will be decided in the coming weeks.
