Austin Elliott, the goaltender for the London Knights, has earned a ticket to the NHL training camp this fall. After an impressive performance throughout the Memorial Cup and the OHL season, which helped his team clinch their third championship, Elliott secured a spot at the Toronto Maple Leafs’ training camp this September.

Elliott, now finished with his fifth junior hockey season, was key to the Knights’ success, posting standout performances throughout the year, including a .924 save percentage across 33 games and a strong .943 save percentage in the Memorial Cup. Originating from Strathmore, Alberta, Elliott ended his junior career with a 52-3-0 record after joining the London Knights from the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades. In the playoffs, he went 16-1, demonstrating his top-tier goaltending skills.

Alongside Elliott, two other London Knights players—Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan, a first-round pick in 2023 who led all OHL players in playoff points, and forward Landon Sim, who signed a one-year AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies—will also participate in the Maple Leafs training camp. Elliott aims to impress the Leafs’ management before starting his college hockey career at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

This year’s camp is significant not only for Elliott but also for prospects like Cowan and Sim, who are eyeing spots on NHL and AHL rosters after standout seasons. The Maple Leafs face roster challenges but remain hopeful about integrating young talent into their system.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for hockey fans as it showcases the next generation of talent ready to make an impact in the NHL. Elliott’s journey from junior hockey to a potential NHL debut is a testament to the strength of the development system, promising an exciting future for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the sport overall.
