The Abbotsford Canucks have defeated the Texas Stars to advance to the Calder Cup final, where they will face the Charlotte Checkers. The Canucks secured the Robert W. Clarke Trophy as Western Conference champions with a 4-2 victory in Game 6.

Goaltender Aathur Silovs has been outstanding throughout the playoffs, posting a .917 save percentage, 2.28 goals-against average, and one shutout in the series. His overall playoff stats include a .929 save percentage, 1.94 GAA, a 12-5 record, and five shutouts. In Game 6, he made 23 saves.

Early in the game, there was a peculiar moment involving a play stoppage that allowed Texas to score and leave the ice. Ashdeep Baines, who scored his first playoff goal in Game 5, netted two goals in Game 6. Alongside Linescarlson, both led the team with seven points each in the conference finals. Jujhar Khaira ranked third in playoff scoring, and Max Sasson scored the series’ opening goal midway through the third period.

The Canucks’ defense was formidable throughout the series, with veteran Christian Wolanin pairing effectively with Victor Mancini and Guillaume Brice Boyce continuing to perform reliably under all conditions. The series included three overtime games and a tight 1-0 match, demonstrating Abbotsford’s ability to handle pressure and excel in various game styles.

Despite having two of the playoffs’ top point scorers, Cameron Hughes (19) and Justin Frikkowian (18), the Texas Stars could not overcome Abbotsford’s defensive strength. Harrison Scott scored the Stars’ first professional goal in Game 6, which was one of the few highlights for Texas. Goaltender Magnus Helberg started after joining the team during the series and provided a sense of stability.

The Texas Stars had an impressive season, and it’s likely some players will return next year after either being held back or promoted. The 87th Calder Cup final is set to be held in North Carolina on June 13th.
