Katie Boulter reveals “nasty” online abuse, death threat

British tennis player Katie Boulter shares details of the “nasty” abuse and death threats she and her family have suffered.

Speaking to the BBC, the 28-year-old message provided a screenshot of the message. Another included the death threat of “candles and co for the whole family.”

“I went to hell and lost the money my mother sent me,” read another message Boulter received.

“Every time you go to your phone, it becomes clearer,” Boulter told the BBC. “I think it’s just an indication of how vulnerable we are. I don’t know if this person is on the scene, if they’re nearby, if they know where you live or if they know anything like that.”

The message containing the threat of death was sent to Boulter while she was playing a 2025 French open round match with Carol Monnett.

“When it comes to death threats, it’s not something you want to read right after an emotional loss. You’ll still get a lot of time after you win,” Boulter said.

UK No. 2 also spoke about the explicit message she received and her concerns about the young players.

“I had quite a bit of that (explicit images) that’s also a big problem. Young people shouldn’t really see something like that or send something like that,” Boulter added.

Boulter will begin defending Nottingham’s open title on Tuesday to take on New Zealand’s Lulussan in the 32 round stages.
