The Los Angeles have an unfortunate amount of pitching injuries at this point in the season.
Andrew Friedman, president of ‘ baseball business, spoke about the extent to which he already has 14 weapons on the injured list, including Cy Young Award recipients and All-Stars, and is working to find a solution.

“I mean, everything from my brain is about what we can do, like how we can solve this,” Friedman said. “It’s like a devouring game, and things keep coming.”
Unfortunately, constant injuries are nothing new to the team. On the road to the 2024 World Series, the met the same kind of illness as the pitcher and tried to address this in the offseason by adding pitching depth.
Friedman explained that this work is currently useless.
“Definition of sufficient depth, I think it’s a fool’s business. I don’t know what a sufficient depth means. I think it’s always good at pitching depth.”
LA went out this offseason and won “more” but hasn’t exactly panned out at this point this year. Three starters are on the injured list, two of whom have been brought in this offseason.
Friedman concluded by talking about not pretending to know more about these complicated injuries than the next, but he and his team were not willing to admit to making mistakes to stop the pitcher’s cycle that was silenced.
“But I think it’s important for anyone who said this a lot and doesn’t say it’s not honest, that we don’t pretend to have all the answers. We want to be really challenging and we want to be smart and make the best move.”
Friedman may not have the answer, but the lack of solutions certainly does not prevent him from trying to get the most effective product in the field at all times.
“It’s definitely the number one thing to keep me up at night,” Friedman said.
