At the 2024-25 trade deadline, the Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler. It changed the trajectory of Golden State’s season. They finished 48-34 and made the playoffs through the play-in tournament as the seventh seed.

Golden State defeated the Rockets in seven games in Round 1 and lost five games to Minnesota in the semi-finals. One Warriors guard underwent surgery Thursday in the 2025 playoffs. Moses Moody had surgery to repair “a secondary ulnar ligament torn with the thumb of his right hand.” ESPN’s Ohm Young Misque reported that Moody is expected to be ready for training camp.

On the 14th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Warriors chose Moses Moody from Arkansas. The 2024-25 season was his fourth year at Golden State. Moody’s 74 games were played, and the start of the 34 was a new career-high. After the Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody began the final 28 games of the regular season. The 22-year-old scored double-digit points in 15 of Golden State’s 28 starts. Moody averaged a career-high 9.8 points and 1.3 assists.

Plus, his .374 3-point percentage from 2024-25 was his new personal best. Moses Moody launched Golden State’s first two postseason games in 2025. However, Steve Kerr adjusted the lineup and Moody came out of the bench for the rest of the series. The previous first round pick shot just 35% off the postseason field. His thumb injury is a problem, and that’s why Moody had surgery on Thursday.

ESPN’s Ohm Young Misque reported that Moody is expected to be ready for training camp. Head coach Steve Kerr admitted that Moosey’s “photos” became much clearer for the Warriors after the butler. It’s a strong sign for moody to move forward. He could be a starter from the first day of 2025-26, depending on what the Warriors are moving. Moses Moody will take the offseason to recover from thumb surgery on Thursday. He has at least four months to recover.
