[Indianapolis, despite not having a major league baseball team, is creating a buzz among baseball enthusiasts with milk as the Indianapolis 500 race approaches Sunday at 12:30pm on Fox. During Saturday’s Orioles vs. Red Sox game, fans were spotted celebrating Julenduran’s home run by playfully pouring milk over him, mimicking the traditional milk celebration of the Indy 500 winner.

Fans at Citi Field adopted the same celebratory gesture after the New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles 5-2 in a National League Championship Series rematch. The privilege to pour milk on the winning driver is reserved for the Indy 500 victor, making it a unique honor tied to the race’s biggest moments.

The Indiana Dairy Association revealed that 28 out of 33 drivers selected whole milk, while Helio Castroneves, Connor Daly, Graham Rahal, Alexander Rossi, and Takuma Sato opted for 2% milk.

Fan Take: This blend of baseball excitement with Indy 500 traditions highlights the crossover appeal between sports, bringing a fresh and fun layer to fan celebrations. It also builds anticipation for the race, making it more engaging for both baseball and racing fans alike.
