Ancelotti explains that when the new Brazilian era begins, he will be surprised at the omission of Newcastle

Carlo Ancelotti has been selected for the first Brazilian team ahead of the summer’s World Cup qualifiers, excluding players who are expected to include 65-year-old Premier League fans.

The Italian began his international tenure in June by selecting a group to compete against Ecuador and Paraguay.

One of the most well-known absentees is Jorington.

The Newcastle United midfielder appeared on his previous Brazilian team in March, but is now recovering from a knee injury.

Signed for £40 million, the 28-year-old is on good progress behind the scenes and is expected to be a preseason.

Ancelotti spoke about his decision (via Globo Esporte) and emphasized the naming of Joelinton among those left behind for fitness.

“Like I said, I tried to choose a player in good condition.” He said.

“Neymar was injured recently, and everyone knows he is a very important player and will always be.

“There are a lot of players who are injured like Neymar and cannot join the national team right now. The same can be said for Rodrigo, Gabriel, Jollington and Militau.

“What I want to say is that there are a lot of talented players in Brazil.”

That specific mention may encourage magpie No. 7 in one-eyed eyes at the location of their country’s teams in the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarès made the cut, but some of his club’s teammates won international calls for postseason equipment.

However, Jollington will have to wait until September for the next opportunity to return.

Fully comfortable in the midfield role, Eddie Howe appears to be trying to add offensive reinforcements to his team this summer, along with both winger Jonathan Lowe and Brighton attacker Joa Pedro.
