Manchester United recovered some pride by beating Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League season.

Amado Diallo and Christian Eriksen, who scored from the scene, rode the scoresheet to secure three points for the Red Devils after a disappointment in Bilbao.

Reuben Amorim gave a speech to supporters in the ground after a full-time whi, saying he will strive to help Manchester United overcome any situation and bring success in the next semester.

United ended the 2024/25 campaign without adding it to the cabinet. They’re not without European football next season. This could also be seen as a potential positive to facilitate schedules and allow you to focus on domestic success.

However, in order for the club to compete at the top of the table again, Amorims will need to be supported by the board as the current players are not delivering enough on the pitch.

At least one player to be replaced as a regular starter is the central Rasmus Hojlund, who hasn’t done enough to suggest that he can turn to.

Why Manchester United should replace Rasmus Hojlund

The Danish archer arrived from Atalanta in a transaction reportedly worth up to £72 million in the summer of 2023, and quickly rose high expectations for the striker.

However, Hojlund only scored nine goals in Serie A during the 2022/23 campaign, and he arrived at Old Trafford as a young striker with potential improvements, rather than a ready-made star who is likely to hit a run.

Unfortunately, the 22-year-old attacker hasn’t been kicked out in the way the club wanted when he decided to spend a fair amount on his services two years ago.

As you can see from the table above, Hozilund has made his pretty decent first year in the Premier League with 10 goals in 30 games in the Premier League, but has scored just four times in the league this season, and has retreated so far throughout United’s career.

A 4 league goal and a return of 32 with zero assists is simply not enough. It’s not enough for the Red Devils, not enough for the striker, who was signed for £72 million two years ago.

This is why Amorim must try to replace Hodjlund as a starter. However, one player who may not come to replace him has been reported to target Viktor Gyoker.

Why is Man Utd likely not sign Viktor Gyoker?

Despite working with United bosses in the sport, Sweden International may not be a realistic target for the Premier League Giants this summer after failing to secure European football.

Before the Europa League final, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested that Victor Osimhen and Gjoker’s moves could be taken from the table as they did not land a Champions League location due to financial restrictions.

The reporter said: “He loves Gyoker and Gyoker Amorim.

Sports’ Star Number Nine is linked to Liverpool and Arsenal. He will both be participating in the Champions League next season.

It’s a shame that Gyoker won’t sign, given the 26-year-old star scored 96 goals and provided 28 assists in 101 games in the sport, but Amorim managed to forget about Hojlund and former Coventry City Ace by unleashing Kobbie Mainoo in his new role.

Kobbie Mainoo should play a new role for Man Utd

This may sound like a crazy idea at face value, but instead of signing a 96-goal striker in 101 games, he plays the middle midfielder ahead of time, which is a tactical move that makes sense for United in the short term.

The team has succeeded in the past without having a natural number of 9, scoring more than 20 goals. For example, Roberto Firmino scored only over 12 Premier League goals in one of his seasons at Liverpool, winning the title and Champions League during his period there.

Brazilian International was very effective for Jurgen Klopp. This was very effective for Jurgen Klopp as it was completely complemented by having two inner forwards in Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and fully complemented by being able to achieve their goals regularly.

Talked by Hojlund, Mainoo is a technically good footballer who can offer Firmino similar qualities in his role, and United is reportedly trapped in Matheus Cunha, perfect for playing alongside England International as part of Klopp’s Liverpool-Esque Front Three.

As you can see in the table above, the Wolf Star has the scoring and creative quality of being a great addition as one of the 10 options behind the striker.

The United Star goals and four “big chances” created may not be immediately eye-catching, but he created those chances with just 19 starts while playing primarily as a central midfielder.

Mainoo scored three goals from just 0.89 xg in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign. This suggests he could potentially finish his chances efficiently, and suggests he will have more opportunities to find the back of the net while playing as False Nine.

Therefore, United could forget Hodjlund and Gyoker by unleashing the academy alumni in their new roles next season. He was able to harness his technical quality and intelligence to combine it with the quality of scores that Cunha and Bruno Fernandes could provide behind him.

Man Utd’s season is over, and all eyes bend towards the future of summer windows and Alejandro Garnacho

This is a cost-effective, short-term solution to Amorim’s Hozilund problem due to the financial blow that missed Europe, and will prevent the club from saving that if they return to European football and return to European football, they won’t have to spend money on what will replace the big target with the new number 9 next year.
