From 2024-25, the Rockets went 52-30 and were #2 seeded in the Western Conference playoffs. Houston lost to the Warriors in seven games in the first round. Their season was a disappointing end.

Despite how the year ended, we are optimistic that the Rocket will move forward. They have a core of young players who continue to grow together. Additionally, Houston had major veterans from 2024-25 on the roster. That included 38-year-old Jeff Green. He recently announced that he wants to play at least 20 years in the NBA. Green has just finished his 17th season.

Will Jeff Green play for the Rockets from 2025-26?

Jeff Green wants to continue playing and retire from Rocket.

Hopefully we’ll make something in a place where we can retire (in Houston).

On the fifth pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Seattle Supersonics chose Jeff Green from Georgetown. During the 2008-09 season, Seattle left town and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. Green played for OKC for three seasons before trading with the Boston Celtics in 2010-11. During his 17-year NBA career, Green played for 11 different teams. He has been traded four times.

In 2022-23, Green played for the Denver Nuggets, winning his first NBA Championship. Over the past two seasons, the 38-year-old has been a member of the Houston Rockets. Green played 32 of 82 games from 2024-25, starting three times. Recently, Jeff Green appeared on an episode of The Zack Lowe Show. Green pointed out that his goal is to play 20 seasons in the NBA. Next year will be his 18th. He has to play two more afterwards to achieve his 20 goal.

For the 2025-26 season, Jeff Green is a free agent. Last year was the final season of his two-year contract with Rocket. Green told Zach Lowe he wanted to finish his career in Houston. He still has a passion for the game and says he wants to continue playing. From 2024-25, Greene lost less playing time with the acquisition of Stephen Adams. We’ll see if the Rockets will re-sign Green this offseason or if they’ll look for a new place to call him.
