The Indiana Pacers are leading an impressive trend in playoff comebacks this NBA postseason. They have executed ten comebacks from deficits of 15 points or more, with Tyrese Haliburton contributing to half of these. No team in NBA history, since such statistics began being recorded in 1997, has managed more comebacks of this scale in a single postseason than the Pacers have this year.

Historically, the highest number of such comebacks by a team was four by Dallas in the 2003 playoffs, and the entire league saw nine in 2021. This season, the Pacers alone have five such comebacks, while the rest of the league combined has also managed five.

Here is a breakdown of some key comeback moments this season:

– In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Indiana overcame a 15-point deficit in the last 10 minutes, with Haliburton’s crucial jumper giving them a 111-110 win over Oklahoma City.
– The Knicks erased a 20-point deficit in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final but ultimately won 106-100.
– The Pacers rallied from 17 points down in Game 1 of the East Final, tying the game late and forcing overtime thanks to another clutch jumper from Haliburton.
– Indiana also recovered from a 19-point deficit in Game 5 of the East Semi-Final against Cleveland, securing a 114-105 victory.
– New York has staged multiple 20-point comebacks this postseason as well, including wins against Boston.
– The Pacers bounced back from down 20 points in Game 5 of the East Quarter Final against Milwaukee, winning in dramatic fashion.
– Oklahoma City overcame a massive 29-point deficit in the West Quarter Final Game 3 against Memphis.
– Denver Nuggets recovered from a 15-point hole in their first-round game against the LA Clippers.

These incredible comebacks showcase the resilience and determination of teams and players this postseason, highlighting thrilling basketball moments and the unpredictable nature of playoff basketball.

Fan Take: This surge in high-stakes comebacks is thrilling for basketball fans as it underscores the drama and excitement of the NBA playoffs, where no lead is safe until the final buzzer. The Pacers’ dominance in this area could redefine comeback narratives and inspire teams to never give up, elevating the intensity and unpredictability of postseason basketball.
