WNBA Star Reacts Strongly to Page Bookers’ Comments Following Wings’ Fourth Defeat

The WNBA star was unhappy with the message conveyed by the Dallas Wings’ fourth consecutive loss, which happened during Page Bookers’ first appearance in Athlon Sports. Bookers, a highly anticipated rookie, missed her third straight game due to still being in the league’s concussion protocol, as the Wings fell to 1-8 on the season after a 93-79 defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night.

Following the game, Bookers had a brief exchange on the court with Sparks star Kelsey Plum, who led LA with 11 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and a block in 29 minutes of play. While the exact words between Bookers and Plum remain unclear, it seemed the rookie was confidently speaking to the veteran two-time WNBA champion guard. Plum didn’t seem pleased with Bookers’ remarks, later describing the moment on camera by saying, “I remember this day. Rookie talking (expletive) is crazy. Rookies are built differently here… what’s going on?”

Kelsey Plum, a former WNBA All-Star Game MVP and one of the league’s top guards, represents the veteran talent, while Bookers symbolizes the league’s rising next-generation stars. The 23-year-old Bookers showed no fear in confronting Plum, a boldness that appeared to catch the seasoned players off guard, especially following the disappointing loss.

Fan Take: This interaction highlights the fearless spirit and confidence of the WNBA’s new generation, signaling an exciting shift in the league’s dynamics. For fans, it promises a thrilling blend of established talent clashing with emerging stars, fueling intense competition and growth for the sport.
