Rookie Denzel Clark Nearly Tears Down Outfield Wall with Stolen Home Runs in Thrilling Matchups

Denzel Clark didn’t just hit home runs on Monday—he nearly expanded the outfield wall at Angel Stadium in the process. Early in the game, Clark tracked a ball from center fielder Nolan Chanuel that looked like an easy solo homer. But as the ball approached the wall, Clark climbed up and caught it, denying Chanuel a home run.

Everyone on the field, including Chanuel, was shocked by the play. This incredible catch follows another spectacular grab Clark made just days earlier in Sacramento, where he leapt onto the outfield wall at Sutter Health Park. Though that dive looked painful, Clark was unharmed and quickly recovered.

Monday’s game was only Clark’s 16th in his professional career. The 25-year-old, drafted in the fourth round by Cal State Northridge in the 2021 MLB draft, had entered the matchup with a batting average of .224, one home run, and three RBIs.

Despite being new to the major leagues, Clark already has two strong contenders for Catch of the Year, marking an impressive start to his MLB journey.

This post will be updated with more information.

Fan Take: Denzel Clark’s jaw-dropping defense showcases the type of athleticism and excitement that baseball fans crave. His plays not only energize the crowd but also set a high standard for outfielders, potentially raising the level of defensive play across the league.
