In Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder was a 9-point favorite. This was the second largest spread to start the Final Series since 2001. Golden State in 2018 supported 13 points in Game 1 of that series. Since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976-77, only seven teams have supported more than four points on the road in the Finals. For Game 3, Thunder is a 5-point favorite.

All of these teams continued to win the NBA Finals. Furthermore, none of the series played seven games. These include the 1996 Bulls, the 1999 Spurs, the 2001 and 2002 Lakers, and the 2015, 2017 and 2018 Warriors. These teams were supported by more than four points in total. They straightened the 7-3 and 6-4 to 6-4 against the spread.

Throughout the 2025 playoffs, the Oklahoma City Thunder played seven games on the road. They have not yet become popular in any of these contests. OKC is 4-3 on roads in the 2025 postseason. The Thunder became the first team since the 2008 Celtics to start 0-6 against playoff road spreads. Boston finished the postseason 5-1, facing road spreads and won the NBA Finals. OKC hopes to finish the season by winding up the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
