Manchester City is poised to rekindle interest in Tino Librament, with Pep Guardiola reportedly identifying Newcastle United’s right-back as his top priority after Kyle Walker’s departure.
According to well-connected scout Mick Brown, the 22-year-old remains “near the top” of the city’s target list to bolster his efforts.
Man City spent a lot of time in the summer transfer windows for players like Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait Nouri and Tijani Rayjna.
But the team also needed a new right-back, but City was unable to complete the player’s signature at that position.
Man City sent a scout and saw Tino Libramento.
Scouts reportedly were sent to watch the librament during the UK’s U-21 European Championship campaign, where he contributed to their success.
Brown provided an update on Man City’s interest in Newcastle United’s right-back.
“Librament is the top target of Man City.” He told the soccer insider.
“They lost Kyle Walker to Burnley in the summer because he’s past his best now, but it doesn’t seem like they managed to replace him properly.
“The new right-back was one of their priorities in the transfer window, but they didn’t accomplish that.
“From what I’ve heard, Livramento was one of the names on their list.
“He’s tall, he can work on, he’s very physical, he’s fast, he has many good assets in his game.
“So for the city, it’s not surprising that he’s on their radar, and that he’s a player he’s been watching for a while to solve the problems they have in that position.”
Newcastle United are not planning to sell Livramento
Despite Manchester City’s interest and potentially significant financial offers up to £65 million, Newcastle United is determined to hold their valuable assets.
Internal sources have argued via the Craig Hope of the Daily Mail that even such offers may not shake the club, and the defender is seen as essential to Eddie Howe’s long-term vision.
To secure his future, Newcastle is preparing a new six-year contract to promote Librament to the highest wage bracket.
For cities, Librament represents an ideal long-term solution, age, homemade status, and defensive reliability.
But Newcastle’s pushback and attractive contract blueprints show that the attractive contract blueprint placed before Livramento is not easy in any move.
