Brian Mbeumo has settled in high stakes transfer duels this summer, with Manchester United looking to be in the driver’s seat, while Tottenham Hotspur may still turn the tide.
Following the appointment of Thomas Frank, manager who managed Mbeumo at Brenftord, Spurs is now in the race advantage to sign off on attackers.
According to TBR Football, the Spurs have the ability to offer players changes to stay in London, which could prove to be a different maker.
Man United were on the forefront of the race to sign Premier League attackers, but that could change once they enter the picture.
Tottenham still has the opportunity to steal Man United’s targets
Graeme Bailey of TBR Football reports that the Spurs still have an opportunity to beat Man United in the race to sign the Brentford man.
He said:
“Manchester United are sure that the players are theirs and the players have made it clear that he is ready to join United, but we need to look at that. They say that if players are offered the opportunity to stay in London, it can play a role.
“As I said, United is still a solid favorite, but Tottenham makes them like players. They did so before Thomas Frank arrived.
Tottenham may offer a bonus on the roughly £130,000 plus £130,000, but United’s offer is likely to be at the top of £150,000-200k/week.
Mbeumo is making a big decision right now
But for Mbeumo, the trade-off between Frank, familiar environment, money and creative joy under Champions League football may outweigh a higher salary.
Man United still looks like a favorite due to their strong financial package and clear ambitions.
But Tottenham’s edge, rooted in emotional pull, tactical familiarity, Champions League football and Frank factor, opens up the situation wide.
