The third major championship of the 2025 golf season was a weekend hit, with two best players from the game taking part in Rory McIlroy and Scotty Scheffler, winning the most prominent title of the year. USGA has loaded premier events with almost every golfer in the world, as the 2025 US Open, biased towards 67, playing the remaining 36 holes at the Oakmont Country Club, featured the original 156 candidates.
Oakmont, the 10th open host, showed his teeth on the field as only three players entered the move day with a pulse score. Sam Burns, JJ Spawn, Adam Scott and Victor Hofland are four guys to see at this US Open. Three of the four have yet to win a major championship, and Scott is doing it without a trip to the winner’s circle in one of the four biggest events of the game of the 12 years. The 2013 Masters Champion plays vintage per golf in three rounds at Oakmont, but it can be enough for the 45-year-old to run through the younger candidates.
As far as legend goes, Tiger Woods missed the tournament while recovering from an unexpected surgery. Mickelson finished his second time in the US and finished six surprising and surprising things (1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2013). Missing a cut to not play the weekend was poetic painful for left-handers..
