British Tyrrell Hutton heads into the final round of the US Open in sixth in one over, just five shots behind the home favourite Sam Burns, heading right in front of his first major after a 68 in the third round.

World No22 Burns made three birdies and two bogeys on his 1-under 69 yesterday. Australia’s Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, is one from one shot after 67. The American JJ Spaun is another 3-under.

Norway’s Victor Hofland shot a level par 70 and sits on one side, just like South Africa’s Sliston Lawrence. They are the only other players on the course credits.

Scotland’s Bob McIntyre is sitting in the top 10 with three overs, but the world’s no-2 Rory McIlroy is keeping his distance after 74 leaves him in the 10th overs.
