FRISCO, Texas – Nelly Korda skipped the Championship dinner before the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship as her neck flares after the world’s No. 1 player snatched a shot from the rough during the practice round.

Korda had a treatment tape at the back of his neck when he spoke to the media on Tuesday after playing again on PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch East course. Korda, who skipped two tournaments due to a neck injury during the LPGA Asian swing late last year, said he is ready to start the third major of the season on Thursday.

“I hit a shot from Ruff (Monday) and my neck was completely convulsing,” Korda said.

Korda said she didn’t go to Champions dinner Monday night because she had to prioritize her body. The 2021 Women’s PGA winner sent a message to defending champion Amy Yang.

“Obviously, last year’s injuries and there’s something on my neck every time now, so I think I’m feeling a little more sick than before,” Korda said. “But I have a great (physiotherapist) who will take care of me. I’m trying to get through it, but I’ll be ready by Thursday.”

The 15 winners were runner-up at the US Women’s Open three weeks ago, but have never won in nine starts this season.
