RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesco has been attracting attention from top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, who are about to sign a new attacker.

The gunner reportedly is a major candidate for the Bundesliga sign star this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side is also racing Premier League rival Manchester United, not alone in the race signing RB Leipzig’s frontman.

We’ll take a closer look at his background, his playing style, his statistics and what he can offer to the club he signs with this summer.

Who is Benjamin Sesco? Background and early career

Sesko is a professional Slovenian soccer player known for his height, pace and clinical finish.

He plays as a striker for RB Leipzig for the German Bundesliga and Slovenian national teams.

In many cases, compared to Erling Haaland due to his physical attributes and playing style, Sesko is considered one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.

He played for several Slovenian Youth Clubs, including Radede, Rudar Trbovlje and Domzale.

In 2019, at just 16 years old, he signed Red Bull Salzburg, Austria.

Initially, he played for Salzburg feeder team FC Liefering in Austria’s second division, where he was impressed by his ability to score his goals. He scored 21 goals in 29 matches in Austria’s second division, attracting widespread attention.

After being promoted to the senior team, he contributed to his goals, contributed to domestic and European competition, and continued to rise steadily.

He officially joined Leipzig in 2023 as part of Red Bull’s internal talent pipeline, and stepped into the Bundesliga, showing off his talent at a higher level.

Career statistics and achievements

Sesko has a great goal scoring record for the German club. It’s not surprising to see some of the top clubs trying to sign him.

He moved to RB Leipzig in 2023 and continued his development within the Red Bull soccer system.

He made 38 appearances for the German club, scoring 18 goals and supporting five more.

Yusuf Poulsen, a teammate of RB Leipzig, from Sesko, praised the attacker by saying:

“He’s the best I’ve played. Looking at his abilities, he has all the best number needs needs… strength, shooting, techniques, everything.”

Christopher Vivel, technical director of Leipzig, said:

“Benjamin Sesco is one of the top young talents in the game and has great potential to become a top player. He’s very fast, he’s making a big jump on him and he’s strong in the air. Benjamin is a real scorer…”

The attacker is a fan of former Swedish striker Ratan Ibrahimovic. Sesco said:

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic was my idol… I was watching him… when I saw a player like that, it really makes me happy.”

Summer 2025 Transfer Window

Arsenal has emerged as a leading candidate to sign Cesco. With Mikel Arteta eager to add a physical presence ahead of time to complement the creativity of players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, Sesko has become a top target.

Chelsea also keeps track of Sesco as they continue to search for consistent scorers. Despite investing in a few offensive players in recent windows, the Blues lacks a true No. 9 presence.

With no prolific attackers at the club, Man United is also among the clubs who have a closer look at Bundesliga strikers.

The Premier League is the most possible destination, but other top European clubs reportedly express interest. AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be tracking him.

His profile is perfectly tall, fast and technically sharp to fit modern games. The next few weeks were able to decide on the future of the player and where he would play next season.
