  • Daniel Farke faces uncertain future at Leeds United
  • Elland Road fans are anxious

Pressure is mounting on Leeds United manager Daniel Farke after a string of disappointing results left the club perilously close to the Premier League relegation zone.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Brendan Rodgers, who recently left Celtic, has emerged as a leading candidate to replace him at Elland Road should the board decide on a change in management.

Leeds’ struggles continued at the weekend and they suffered another setback with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Lucas Nmeka’s opener gave the game some hope, but the Whites only had a two-minute lead before Forest turned the game around.

Ian Ladyman explained that while Farke may not have “deserved” his sacking, the ruthless nature of football means his position is far from secure.

“That doesn’t mean Farke doesn’t deserve to be sacked, much less won’t be sacked. And the moment Brendan Rodgers left Celtic a few weeks ago, every manager in the bottom half of the Premier League became a little bit more vulnerable.” Ladyman wrote.

Rodgers, who led Leicester City to their first-ever FA Cup win in 2021, is one of the most experienced free agents. His managerial career includes success at Liverpool, Celtic and Swansea City, where his attacking brand of football won widespread praise.

But his time at Celtic came to an abrupt end last month following a public row with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, leaving the Northern Irishman with another chance.

Sources close to the Leeds board say Rodgers is admired for his tactical acumen, experience in high-pressure environments and proven ability to turn around a struggling side.

His ability to develop young talent, which he demonstrated at Leicester with the likes of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, also fits with Leeds’ long-term vision.

Meanwhile, frustration continues to mount among Leeds United supporters. Fans have voiced concern over Farke’s lack of tactical flexibility and his team’s inability to maintain a lead.

The atmosphere at Elland Road is becoming increasingly tense, with some in the fanbase calling for decisive action to be taken before the situation worsens.

Despite Falke’s impressive performance in the Championship, where he previously led Norwich City to promotion, concerns remain about his performance in the Premier League.

For now, Rodgers’ availability adds further intrigue, and perhaps pressure, to a situation that is rapidly becoming untenable for Rodgers in the dugout at Elland Road.

Another manager who was recently linked with a move to Leeds, surprising even the former Liverpool manager, was Jurgen Klopp, but the German is not interested in the job.
