Stay Seal Chairs blames 6-hour round with KPMG female PGA with poor setup

Frisco, Texas – No LPGA player is involved in creating the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship than Staysealis. In fact, when the championship first came together a decade ago, former KPMG chairman John Weimeyer said that if they had not formed a relationship with Lewis in the first place, the company’s involvement would not have happened.

So when the two-time major champion and former No. 1 offer critical comments about this week’s championship, she is relieved that she has a lot of thought behind it.

Round 1 of the KPMG Women’s PGA in Fields Ranch East took over six hours for those who finished late in the day, including group Lekset Smpson, Yealimi Noh and Yuka Saso, featuring Peacock. There is a 25-minute wait for par 3, with some groups nos. Backed up on 8 and 13.

Lewis said the slow play issue was a setup issue, which was the same in the second round.

“Today, it was once again a hole on the side of the hill,” said Lewis, who doesn’t play on the weekend. “Then you throw the wind there. There was no way to stop it on No. 8 today either. We should play in front of that tee. Perhaps 120 yards… we can’t hold the green.”

The woman played the eighth hole from 157 yards on Friday, with under 20% of the field hitting it with restrictions.

After Lydia Ko hit the beauty on Green on No. 8, which didn’t stop on No. 8 on Friday, NBC analyst Morgan Pressel said it was a hole setup that won’t reward a good shot.

“It’s not my favorite,” she added.

Golf Channel Analyst and PGA Tour winner Brandel Chambly has long thought the LPGA setup was too long. The famous reachable par 5, which often brings out a lot of drama in men’s games, such as the 18th at Pebble Beach, is a three-shot hole for women.

Thursday’s score average of 75.58 was the fifth toughest day in major championships in the LPGA over the past 10 seasons. Friday’s average was the highest score average in the majors in 10 years.

As a player, Lewis doesn’t care if under 12 wins majors. What she cares about is whether the golf course is playing in a way that is designed to be played. Often she feels that officials are returning the tee to reach a certain yard.

“We’ll play it backwards almost,” Lewis said of how it should be done. “I see greenery. Do you know which clubs to get in this hole?

She also wanted to see the bunker in the middle of the fairway on the 18th be removed. This hole became a nasty tee shot for players who can’t hit the driver off the tee without running the fairway, but can’t carry the bunker at 237 yards on 3 wood, producing more doubles than birdies in the first two rounds.

Authorities had to switch between the ninth and 18th halls for the event to make room for hospitality. The 2023 Senior PGA finished with a reachable par-5. 99 of 299 will be fully switched for the 2027 PGA Championship and will be hospitality-ready.

The courses set up are ridiculous by their looks. A ridiculous pin for conditions. I’ll save these for the weekend. Here we want to see the 6 hour round and people waiting all the time. #clless

One unique aspect of Gil Hanse Design, which opened in 2023, is its lack of traditional tee boxes. Hanse used what he called Ribbontee. This is an inherent extension of the fairway, so there is plenty of flexibility. This can be difficult to find a flat spot to tee up the ball.

Fields Ranch East was set up at 6,532 yards on Friday. At that time, the wind exploded to 30 mph, and temperatures surged to triple digits. As Jerry Kelly said at the Advanced PGA in 2023, modern design in American PGA homes, one day, can be returned to 8,000 yards for men, if necessary.

Sweden’s Madeleine Sagstrom said he heard mixed reviews from players in 2027, where the PGA Championship and KPMG are once again held in 2031 Fields Ranch East.

“I think you can be rewarded for a good shot,” Sugstrom said. “It’s a good thing because you’ll definitely be punished for a bad shot. It’s in beautiful state.”

Northbridge Bermudaraf is a punishment. If you miss a fairway just a few inches, you may need to smolder as the ball sinks invisible.

Champion Major Ashley Buhai said her group had lots of Sunday pins on Thursday, but she liked the challenge.

“I don’t care,” Buhai said. “You have to think about it. I don’t have to use my brain to hit different shots. Sometimes leaving 30 feet is a good shot.”

Angel Inn was taking a distinctly different take and told the scribe on Thursday he thought it was pretty boring.

“It’s kind of repetition,” Yin said, “and there are challenges, but it’s very subtle.”

Lewis opposed the shadowy “boring” take, but she said she heard from many disappointed players.

“We ran a very good golf course at this championship, and then we’ll be here,” Lewis said, referring to recent venues such as Baltoslour, Atlanta Athletic Club, Congress and Sahary.

“The problem with this is also making us look better,” she continued. “We are trying to get more people to watch women golf and see them play golf, and a setup like this won’t help us.

“And this is when we have the biggest stage, network television and all of that, and we’re making very good players look ridiculous.”
