Chelsea continues to operate in the goalkeeper market where Barcelona’s German shot stopper Mark Andretelstegen is one name on the radar.
A source with a detailed understanding of Ter Stegen’s situation has been notified Catch off side “We’ve returned to ask for information about Ter Stegen, confirming that the German goalkeeper is on the list of options.”
On top of that, Ter Stegen himself appreciates his future in Barcelona after Joan Garcia arrives as a new goalkeeper signature, but Wojciech Szczesny is also on Hansi Flick’s team as a reliable backup.
This probably means Ter Stegen may need to look elsewhere for the first team opportunity, and Chelsea is eager to sign the new “keeper so it could be an option for him.
Catch off side It is also said that Manchester United have done similar checks on the 33-year-old as they are looking for an alternative to Andre Onana.
Chelsea contacted Mark Andre Ter Stegen after not signing Mike Maynang
Chelsea tried to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maynyaan before the Club World Cup but were unable to reach an agreement, so they are considering other options.
Ter Stegen is not necessarily a priority for the West London giant, but he contacted him early in the summer to ask about his situation and did so again.
Our sources confirmed that the final decision would not be evacuated, but we confirmed that Chelsea will “continue to monitor the situation” over the next few weeks.
Chelsea need a new goalkeeper
Chelsea previously had world-class keepers like Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois, so there’s no doubt that they’ll need an upgrade for their current options.
Robert Sanchez wasn’t good enough, but others like Kepa Alizabaraga have also floped recently.
Ter Stegen may now be a little past his peak, but German International remains a quality player with plenty of experience.
It would be interesting to see how this will develop in the coming weeks, if Mainyan returns to the photos, or if in fact the CFC decides to simply go for someone else.
